Sharp was raised within Rochester (New York) and embraced music. While at the Hochstein School of Music, she was a student of clarinet, cello as well as piano. The Boston Conservatory offered her a grant for her school's theatre. Cum Laude awarded Sharp a B.F.A. Sharp focused her energy on the stage. She played in her first Broadway National Tour of Carousel as well as debuted Off Broadway as Michael Bradford's Living in the Wind.
